Help, I really need someone . . .

So I ran into a friend of mine who is part of a husband and wife music duo that plays around town a lot.  He’s a great guy and has lots of cool ideas about how to advance music into the youth scene.

He stopped by to buy a show ticket and meet a band I’m working with and shared a bunch of ideas and experiences. He had been a promoter in Costa Rica and talked about how he got interested in music when a rock show came to his high school and played.  The inspiration was such that he started booking shows at the local places in that country.  We talked about producing shows together and taking them to high schools in the area as part of music outreach.

I thought it was a cool idea and we will be discussing more in the future.  It fits with some other music based outreach that I’m working on with others.

It’s weird how all these same types of ideas keep coming together at the same time.

But basically, it has to do with where do kids go these days to watch rock music or music in general?  Your choices are the well known places, college campus venues, bar, or outdoor festivals.  Why is that?

At any rate, he’s a great guy and randomly came up with a need to borrow a PA system.  His guy he had reserved cancelled on him.  I happen to have a decent PA that would be perfectly suited for him so I let him borrow it.  He was super appreciative of the gesture.

when I picked it up tonight, his wife said the same thing.  I thought about it for a moment and said I was happy to help out.

It seems like we are put here to help out others when we can, and if we can, well, then that’s what you should do.

It’s just something small, but it’s very humbling to be in the position to be able to help others.

I’ll do it again, if I get the chance.

Have a great night!
